Success!

We were greeting with wonderful news when we picked Katherine up from daycare yesterday afternoon. She used the potty!!! Not just sitting down and going through a trial run, which she did many times this past weekend, an actual full fledged moment on the potty! Naturally I got all excited when I heard the news and the teacher commented on how much she loves watching parents reaction when they tell them the good news. I am amazed that only one week in the two year old room and we’ve come this far.

The kids were out on the playground and Miss K. was having a wonderful time running around and going down the slide. So much so that she threw a little fit when it was time to leave. This was actually a huge relief to me, it lets me know that she likes it there.

This morning when I dropped her off, another classmate arrived at the same time. Katherine started waiving and said “Hi Cindy!” Little miss social butterfly, making friends already!

Greetings from the Columbia River Valley and Wanatchee, WA. We thought this would be a small town, but it reminds us of Southern CA. There's quite a contrast between the lush irrigated fields and orchards and the very dry landscape. As we checked in, ash was falling and there was thick smoke from a fire in the hills nearby. We've watched the helicopters dip big buckets in the river and dump them on the fire. I'm mildly freaked out by this, but they do seem to be getting it under control.
We came through Elmo, Montana today, I thought Katherine would like that. We had lunch in Paradise which was an old railroad stop in a very lovely valley of the Clark Fork River.
Glacier Park was beautiful. The hiking was good and we saw lots of wildlife, to include a huge grizzly, big horn sheep and mountain goats. We had hoped to be able to download pictures to the Ceiva, but haven't been able to yet. We're off to Victoria tomorrow, driving through the Cascades to catch a ferry. Take care and we're thrilled with Katherine's progress.
